Going to San Francisco

  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • Oakland International Airport (OAK)

Both are served by the BART, as well as have taxi/Uber/Lyft pick up areas. Depending on your arrival time, the BART may be the fastest way to go, especially if flying into Oakland as rush hour traffic across the Oakland Bay Bridge can cause significant delays.

Using the BART

BART requires a ticket to enter and leave the system -- make sure to hold onto the ticket. The vending machines take cash or credit. The fares to downtown San Francisco are:

  • from San Francisco Airport: $8.95
  • from Oakland Airport: $10:20

Getting to the BART Station

San Francisco Airport

  1. Upon exiting the secured area, follow signs to the AirTrain.
  2. Board whichever AirTrain arrives first (both Red and Blue stop at the BART station).
  3. Disembark at Garage G/BART. The vending machines and BART entrance will be right in front of you.
  4. Make sure to board the train to Pittsburgh/Bay Point (the far right platform)

Oakland Airport

  1. Follow signs for the luggage claim.
  2. Upon exiting the airport, the BART connector station is across the street from Terminal 1.
  3. The BART connector train will take you to the Coliseum station.
  4. Transfer there onto the Daly City train to get to San Francisco.

Taxi/Uber/Lyft

Both airports have pickup areas for the taxi/Uber/Lyft. From San Francisco Airport:

  • Taxi: ~$50-55 with tip
  • Lyft/Uber: $30
